3046 Military Automatic Antenna Tuner

HF ANTENNA TUNING UNIT

A low-profile 150 W HF antenna tuning unit that matches any frequency across the 2 to 30 MHz band in under one second, holding voice and data communications wherever the antenna goes.

Book a Demo

An optimised tuning algorithm matches new frequencies in under one second and recalls a stored match in less than 150 milliseconds. With the tune-from-memory capacity being unlimited. The tuner is built on a non-linear memory allocation, so the 3046 holds every channel an operation needs without ever clearing memory. The advantage shows under tempo: when a net hops frequency or a crew moves between assigned channels, the match keeps pace rather than holding the operator on the previous setting. The unit draws around 400 mA in typical operation and weighs 2.4 kg in a low-profile housing, keeping the antenna match efficient whether it rides on a vehicle or deploys man-portable. Fast tune. Light footprint.

Control sits fully inside Codan's HF transceivers, so tuning runs with no separate console and no added step in the workflow. Across the full 2 to 30 MHz band, the 3046 carries voice (including frequency hopping) and data without a break in coverage, presenting a clean 50 ohm match at a typical VSWR of 1.5:1 or better. Antenna options scale to the task: a 3 m carbon-fibre MIL-spec whip for mobile work, the same whip tied down for near-vertical skywave (NVIS) operation, a 7 m extension for semi-permanent sites, and a 9 m tactical long wire that attaches direct to the NATO base stud. One tuner moves from vehicle to fixed site with no change of hardware.

Qualified to MIL-STD-810G for dust and vibration, the 3046 operates from -30 to +60°C in humidity up to 95% and electromagnetic compatibility is designed to MIL-STD-461. Built-in protection covers open circuit, short circuit, over-voltage, over-temperature and high VSWR, so a fault condition in the field does not take the antenna match down with it. Power handling runs up to 150 W PEP, with a 100% voice duty cycle held across the full operational temperature range and rated data duty cycles for sustained traffic. Built for the conditions HF crews work in, proven on the platforms that carry the 3046 into the field.
