Radio control no longer lives on a fixed panel. VCP turns any Windows PC or tablet into a full control point for a Codan SDR HF transceiver, replicating physical control point functionality through software alone. Teams running minimal kit stay operational: VCP performs on hardware as light as an Intel Atom at 1.33 GHz with 1 GB of RAM, and supports both touchscreen and physical keyboard. Familiar devices. ONE NETWORK, EVERY CONTROL POINT

Across a base or a vehicle, VCP connects over wired IP or Wi-Fi to operate the radio at locations remote or local to the RFU. A single network can hold up to four control points on one transceiver or run several transceivers from one device, so a command post and a field operator can work on the same network without contention. When only one transceiver is in range, Auto Connect brings the operator online without manual setup. In an Envoy base system, laptops, desk PCs and tablets reach the remote RFU and antenna over IP; in a vehicle, a Codan SmartLink provides the Wi-Fi access point, extending control a considerable distance from the platform. VCP runs alongside other installed Codan applications, centralising network control for shared situational awareness across the deployment.

ACCESS HELD TO THE RADIO'S TERMS

Access stays governed by the connected radio. Where a Codan transceiver carries a User PIN, VCP requires that same PIN before the application will operate, so control of the network follows the radio's own security policy. All audio, including incoming call notifications, routes through the connected PC or tablet, keeping voice traffic on the operator's hardware. Running on lightweight field devices, VCP holds full transceiver control without adding a separate point of failure to the radio system it serves.
